Please give us a brief introduction about how you guys met, how you started the band and how it changed over the years.

Myth and I (Meg) met in a friend’s house.
Po and I met when we’re born, coz we’re sisters.
We loved music and believed that we could write our own music, then we started the band.
In these years, we’re trying to mix more different kinds of music / materials in DDD’s music.

The English translation of Dzap Dau Dau is Pick up the Beans, where does the name come from?
|

DDD:
|
: It comes from a cartoon book. It doesn’t have any meaning for us, we just like the sound, it’s so funny in Cantonese (and everyone speaks Cantonese when you guys call the name).

Dzap Dau Dau is around for good 10 years now, why did it take so long for you to release your first full lenght album?
|
|
DDD:
|
Oh, no no. DDD is not around that long. DDD was started in 2000.
Myth and I formed another band before DDD, and we were playing in bands for about 10 years now. We’re thinking of a 10 years celebration party, hahahhaa..

“Dog Days” hit the shelves on 18. July, how would you describe the album?
|
|
DDD:
|
We planned the “Dog Days” ablum for over a year and worked in the studio for a week only. It’s the dog days, fun and cool.

What bands or styles are your musical influences?
|
|
DDD:
|
Grunge, Punk, Classical, Pop, Chinese Pop, Rock, Atlernative, Reggae, Opera, Old songs…..and more

What does the word Punk mean for you?
|
|
DDD:
|
Punk means music, culture life style and fashion. For DDD, ‘punk’ means music only.

Georg:

You will soon be touring through Japan, U.S.A. and Taiwan, ist there any chance to see you in Europe in the (near) future?

DDD:
|
That’s all on planning and contacting at this moment. DDD would like touring all of the cities, just contact us, I’m sure that we like to gig everywhere.

What are your best and worst memories with the band?
|
|
DDD:
|
We met much friends all over the world while touring, all of them play great music. These are all the best memories.

What was the craziest thing that ever happened at your concerts?
|

DDD:
|
Once we had a gig outdoor and there were thousands of termites flying around the light on the stage. When we were singing they flew into our mouths…

After your CD release, is it still like you don’t get paid for your Gigs in HK?

DDD:

Keep on. Touring wherever DDD is welcome and trying to make more people liking DDD’s music in the mainly Cantonese pop music scene in Hong Kong.

Besides making music what stuff do you like to do in your free time?

DDD:
|
Hang out with friends, movie, shopping, wailking, dreaming, onlining, KTV, sleep, read, draw,…. try hard to keep alive.
