Hong Kong’s street punks The Squawk are planning to release their first full lengt album in the first quarter of 2008! One song will be have the Tiananmen Square incident of 1989 as topic.

On 13th September Scream Records Beijing has finally released, what could be Hang on the Box’s last album! The 9 tracks of “No More Nice Girl” include the pretty catchy “Shanghai” and “Rollercoaster”.

Formed in 2006 The Squawk is a very young, yet still one of few streetpunk bands in Hong Kong. They just released their 5 Track demo EP and toured through China, where they played with bands like Demerit. Let’s see what guitarist Ho and vocalist Bob have to say about their band.

SAT: What made you want to form a punk band in the first place?
Bob: There’s no true punk band in HongKong. Everybody here just plays metal, emo, pop rock, or pop punk music, so me & Ho had an idea: Why dont we form a punk band to piss everybody off ?
Ho: First of all, we saw that there is no street punk band in the HongKong underground scene.It only has some pop punk bands, therefore, we wamted to form it. Also we wanted to express our anger about our fucking government., as our government imposed lots of stupid policies.
